When RI.Logistica was approached with a request to support the transport of advanced scientific equipment to Ukraine, the mission resonated deeply with our values. Ensuring that research and healthcare innovation can continue, even under the most challenging circumstances, is a responsibility we proudly share with our partners.
Thanks to the combined efforts of Marsh (insurance), 4PL Central Station (transport coordination), and AEB (financial contribution), the shipment reached its destination safely and has now been successfully unloaded in Kharkiv..
A Milestone for Nuclear Medicine in Ukraine
The equipment delivery forms part of a broader capacity-building initiative supported through a philanthropic grant awarded to UMCG and Karazin University. Beyond the equipment itself, the programme includes training and research visits for ten Ukrainian professionals, aimed at developing expertise in radiopharmaceutical production, scanner operation, data processing, and first-line response procedures required to establish sustainable nuclear medicine services.
The receiving team at Karazin University expressed profound gratitude for the delivery, describing it as a crucial first step toward building a long-term ecosystem for nuclear medicine in Ukraine:
“We truly feel this support here, and it is unbelievable given the conditions we are in now. This is the first step toward developing nuclear medicine in Ukraine, and we now have a team with ‘flaming eyes’ ready to move forward.”
The university also highlighted the importance of the training provided by UMCG and MILabs, which complements the equipment delivery and helps ensure long-term scientific and clinical impact.
Partners Who Made It Possible
This project demonstrates what can be achieved when expertise, philanthropy, and commitment come together.
We would like to sincerely thank:
- UMCG — for scientific leadership, training activities, and extensive in-kind contributions from its staff.
- MiLabs — for technical expertise, training support, and for making the system available under highly favourable conditions in support of this mission.
- Marsh — for securing tailored insurance for sensitive scientific equipment.
- 4PL Central Station — for managing the transport process with precision and care.
- AEB — for its financial contribution towards the shipment.
- The philanthropic funding organisation — for supporting both the equipment acquisition and the associated training and research exchange programme.
RI.Logistica is grateful for the professionalism and dedication shown by all partners throughout this initiative
A Commitment That Continues
At RI.Logistica, we believe this delivery is only the beginning. We see a clear need — and a clear opportunity — to continue supporting Ukrainian researchers and institutions. The resilience of the scientific community in Ukraine is remarkable, and we are committed to doing more.
We stand ready to assist in future transports, coordination, and collaborative initiatives that strengthen research capacity where it is needed most.
Looking Ahead
As new projects and research collaborations begin to take shape, RI.Logistica will continue to work closely with partners across Europe to ensure that scientific equipment, knowledge, and support reach the people who need them. Through the International Coalition for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine and different Communities of Interest, we contribute with logistics expertise and practical experience from real donation deliveries and proof-of-concept cases. We are currently involved in developing a manual for donation setups and logistics processes, together with various partners and communities (such as RIFF, the Ukrainian–European Science Diplomacy, STCU and UNICEF. ) The ambition is to create broader and more flexible donation frameworks that can support different types of institutions, recipients and donation scenarios.
This shipment is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when industry, research institutions, and logistics partners unite with a shared purpose.
